Program Aims
DM Football Academy’s (DMFA) main goal is to develop and encourage players to be their best. We are committed to delivering the best quality training and education for our next generation of football players. We aim to make the player the focal point of the Academy and all our efforts will be directed into the players ability and welfare by:
- Mentoring and supporting players and parents in a holistic approach to football development
- Setting challenging football targets and social standards
- Providing an organised and disciplined setting where players take pride in themselves and their environment
- Ensuring all aims and set tasks on and off field are implemented efficiently
- Promoting and supporting positive outcomes in development and health
- Providing good models of behaviour, being honest and compassionate
- Celebrating player success and recognising outstanding achievement, effort and behaviour
- Follow the FFA National Curriculum and encourage players to participate in talented pathway programs
In essence, our aim is to produce complete players. Players who are equipped to cope with the demands of the modern game on and off the field and prepared for NPL and professional environments.
Futsal can provide the perfect platform for players to develop and enhance the technical skills required for the eleven-a-side game. With the opportunity of playing all year round, Futsal provides much more than a way of beating the harsh summer weather. It is a fast paced, highly technical and tactical version of the game that provides the best bits of football in a much shorter time period. It can allow the opportunity for players to practice in a different environment and arm them with a range of skills to support their journey through academy football.
Playing on a smaller court not only provides greater opportunity to practice core skills, but they are forced to receive and play under greater levels of pressure, enhancing the need to scan and think quickly to make decisions based on their position, the ball, their team-mates and the opponents. This is particularly useful for players in the foundation phase as it exposes them to these a variety of situations early in their development, so when they transfer to a bigger pitch it feels a lot easier.
Program Information
Over the course of 14 rounds, Futsal Champions League (FCL) players will be taken through weekly matches on Sunday and up to three football skill development sessions. The matches the players will be rotated through positions and introduced to simple shapes. The weekly sessions are a choice of technical development sessions or physical development sessions. The physical development sessions will focus on functional movement, dynamic mobility, balance, footwork and core strength. The FCL will run over 14 rounds (25th October – 6th December 24th January – 7th March). The skill development sessions will be run for an hour on Tuesdays and Fridays at 5:00pm. The physical development sessions will run on Wednesdays at 4:15pm and 5:15pm.
Each game will be coordinated by our experienced and qualified coaches where all players will receive important match play. Each training session aims to recreate that street football environment, create fun football-related practices and let them play! When planning a session, we aim to ensure that the sessions are fun, challenging and game related. In addition, sessions should develop the players technically, tactically, physically, socially (interaction with other players, communication) and mentally (improve game awareness, decision making). Each session will provide lots of contact with the ball and game related actions. As much as possible we try to inspire players with the session content, with personality, with energy and with enthusiasm. Our academy coaching manual includes over 100 practices across a variety of coaching themes.
Enrolled players may be eligible to participate in our Academy Select programs to represent our academy in local, interstate and international tournaments or experiences.
Missed Sessions & Extra Sessions
To adhere to our goal of developing and encouraging players to be their best we do offer alternatives and additions. DMFA expects maximum attendance but understand that sessions may be missed. Missed sessions can be “caught up” by players attending our alternative weekly session.
DMFA believe our FCL program will inspire players to be their best and is the perfect supplement to football training.
Constant reflection, feedback and communication with players and parents is important. Our players and parents will be provided constant feedback and information on player progress.
